COLLECT 2010
The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects
14 – 17 May 2010
Saatchi Gallery, Duke of York’s HQ, King’s Road, London - Stand G11
Galerie Besson is delighted to announce that it will take part in COLLECT for the first time this year. The light and spacious Saatchi Gallery will form the perfect setting to present some of the best international ceramics that the gallery has to offer.
We are showing an exciting group of work, most of which has been especially commissioned for the fair from contemporary makers. We will also present a few exceptional pieces by twentieth century artists Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
Highlights of the gallery’s presentation at the fair will include five new works by Jennifer Lee, the first pieces the gallery has been able to offer since her critically acclaimed exhibition with Lucie Rie and Ernst Gamperl in Tokyo last year.
We are also very honoured to be able to show a major new work by Australian artist Gwyn Hanssen Pigott, Shore, 2010. A solo exhibition of Hanssen Pigott’s work will run at the gallery from 9 June – 8 July.
European work is represented by ceramic and glass pieces from French artist Bernard Dejonghe and sculptures by Spanish artist Claudi Casanovas, whose two works from his ‘Urnes’ series will be accompanied by a magnificent porcelain sculpture, Ermitò de Sant Sebastià.
Shozo Michikawa from Japan has produced a number of exciting new pieces in his trademark twisting form for the fair. We are also very lucky to be able to present some works from the estate of French potter Jacqueline Lerat (1920-2009).
