Memorial als Vençuts
In 2004 Claudi Casanovas won a competition to create a monument against Fascism in Olot. The piece, entitled 'Memorial als Vençuts' (Memorial to the Fallen), was created over a two-year period from 15 tonnes of clay and encased in a concrete shell. It stands alongside the Fluvià River in Olot and was commissioned by the the Municipality of Olot-Girona-Catalunya-Spain. The monument was installed in June 2006.
